Sharing Space-treats and cafes

We had the most delicious Gelato samplings here! Pistachio, chocolate orange, coconut lime, something and mint sorbet, Earl Grey, AND black sesame- which was/ is amazingly delicious if you enjoy the flavour of sesame seeds (which you should if you don't, just so you can enjoy this delicious cold treat). I would have tasted them all and walked out, but guilt kicked in and we shared three delicious scoops out in the mild wintry night.

Smoky Tea and a Cannoli

It was a cold and rainy evening. The sky was already too dark, my shoes wet and hands numb. Bright lights, warmth, exquisite looking pastries, friendly and smart ladies serving and an open kitchen of goodness baking. Going home could wait a bit longer...

 Nadege was great, I definitely recommend a visit if you're in Toronto. A little fancy, but worth it!

Pouring slow dripped coffee over boiling milk and watching the colour turn from white to a dark golden brown as I warm my hands over the hot stove top.

Rainy days, bus stops and tea shops

On a particularly rainy day I had much time to kill.

The warm smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, coconut, vanilla and other delicious flavours

beckoned and welcomed.

I entered.

The Tea Shop.

It was a good decision.

I went up to Ottawa for the Animation Film Festival. It was a lot of fun, volunteering, good screenings, not so good screenings (that others seemed to enjoy nonetheless!) , inspiring talks and many chilly walks- to the various venues, and also to Quebec (by accident). I ate a delicious sandwich in the rain, and another well prepared one ( courtesy my aunt and fantastic Indian pickle) in the soothing, warming sun. I skipped out on the late night events and exciting animator parties, but got to spend some time with family and my cousin's delightful little children- cheerful, intelligent, and boiling over with energy!

I used the Manimate as an excuse to start this one. A concept from a page in my sketchbook, I wanted to retain the sketchbook look, while keeping the production quality low, because it was supposed to be done within 24 hours (more like 24 days!)

A Walk in the Park

We lost our way in a park, panicked and called 911. In our defense, it spreads over 600 acres, and even the rangers had trouble locating us. We would have been stranded among unknown grass and horse droppings much longer, if it wasn't for the geese flying towards the setting sun.

It was probably a little much to expect a helicopter to come rescue us, but the nice park rangers gave us a ride back through the rocky roads of Farmdale Reservoir on the back of one of these!

(His owners named him after the song by Maroon5- Moves like Jagger, hence the soundtrack.)

We went to a Zoo, the tiger slept out in the sun, and the lemurs played in the shade. The Africa section had groovy African music playing in the background, drum beats and chants; I wonder if the animals were bothered by these sounds. The petting section with ponies and donkeys being petted by us more "evolved" monkeys. Some animals in pairs, some by themselves, running around, chasing each other, or just lazily lying about. I got the impression the animals were bored, and possibly intrigued by how excited we all were, wearing our caps and eating ice cream.

Missing Mumbai

I haven't had much chance to draw people lately, possibly because of the vast population per-square foot difference between a small Midwest city to Mumbai. Here are some sketches of commuters in the fast, mostly efficient and always crowded Mumbai locals!

I whacked an insect crawling in our living room this morning. On close examination, I noticed it oozed out a silver colour fluid.

ames from inside

I have been moving about a lot lately. These were just quick doodly paintings of what i saw when in the exciting city of ames, Iowa. It got way too hot to complete the last one. Scarf over head, and drink in hand just weren't enough!
